Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) documents summarize important information about our health coverage options in a standard format developed by the Department of Health and Human Services. Your clients can use SBCs to easily compare benefits and coverage offered by Kaiser Permanente and other carriers.
Under the Affordable Care Act, your clients are required to provide SBCs to participants and beneficiaries of the Kaiser Permanente plans they offer. SBCs can be provided in either a paper or electronic format.
Covered California for Small Business lists health insurance companies that are available for year-round enrollment in the small business program. You can view their SBCs on the Covered California for Small Business website.
You can also download the Glossary of Health Coverage and Medical Terms (PDF), which has standard definitions of health insurance terms your employees may need to know, as well as our SBC guide (PDF).
To order printed SBCs in English, Spanish, or Chinese, go to our online literature order and tracking system.
If you need help with SBCs, call our Small Business Services Client Services Unit at 800-790-4661, option 2.
